Mojgan Tavakoli, DPM, AACFAS, ABPOPPM

Dr. Tavakoli was born in Tehran, Iran and immigrated to the United States with her family shortly after completing high school. She attended Old Dominion University in Norfolk, Virginia and earned a B.S. degree in Medical Technology and graduated first in her Major. She is bilingual and speaks fluent Farsi (Iranian Persian). She also attended New York College of Podiatric Medicine where she earned numerous scholarships and graduated with Honors.

Her residency training programs were located in New York City. She spent one year at the Manhattan V.A. Medical Center and two years at N.Y.U. Downtown Hospital just blocks from the World Trade Center. At Manhattan V.A., she treated American War Veterans in an intensive podiatric medical and surgical program. These patients often had severe deformities and conditions requiring innovative bracing, accommodation and surgical correction. After her training at the V.A., Dr. Tavakoli was accepted into the prestigious N.Y.U. Podiatric Surgery program where she completed her last two years of training. As a female surgeon in a male dominated field of Orthopedic and Podiatric Surgeons, Dr. Tavakoli's personality, dedication and perseverance yielded her the responsibilities of Chief Resident. In recognition of her clinical and surgical excellence, Dr. Tavakoli was offered the first-ever podiatric resident rotation through the world-renowned Hospital for Joint Disease, Diabetic Foot and Ankle Wound Clinic, a multi-disciplinary facility combining the disciplines of Endocrinology, Infectious disease, Podiatry, Vascular Surgery, Orthopedics, Nurse Practitioners and Diabetic Educators. There, Dr Tavakoli trained in the complexities of diabetic wound management, utilizing the latest techniques of grafting, dressing, casting, biopsy and medical management.

During her residency training, Dr. Tavakoli also performed nearly 1000 surgical procedures under the guidance of her Podiatry and Orthopedic-attending Surgeons. She is well trained in Forefoot and Rear foot surgery and reconstruction, surgical management of fractures and other trauma. The combination of her training and experience make Dr. Tavakoli one of the finest podiatric physicians available.

Dr. Tavakoli is Board Certified in foot and ankle surgery by the American Board of Podiatric Surgery.
